Brett Favre named in connection to Mississippi’s welfare scandal

Former NFL QB Brett Favre is in the news again. This time it is not for winning a Super Bowl, the hall of fame, or his sports opinion. This is something much more serious. Favre has been named in connection to the state of Mississippi’s welfare scandal, according to NBC News.

Favre is accused of receiving child welfare money from the state for speeches he never gave. They believe that Favre received over $1 million from the state of Mississippi in 2017 and 2018.

During his NFL career, Brett Favre earned $137.8 million and is one of the NFL’s all-time highest-paid players to this day.

Could Brett Favre be innocent?

Favre has claimed his innocence in this after being accused of intentionally taking the money earlier. He previously tweeted.

“I would never knowingly take funds meant to help our neighbors in need, but for Shad White to continue to push out this lie that the money was for no-show events is something I cannot stay silent about,”

Brett Favre on Twitter.

The truth will come out soon as the state seeks to get some of it money back and conducts investigations.

This is a developing story.
