NFL games start tonight and we have the Week 1 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings ready. Tonight’s matchup features two top quarterbacks. The first is Tom Brady who has very little left to prove and the second is Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott who has everything to prove coming off a season-ending injury last year.
Much like our team NFL Power Rankings, we don’t know who is going to perform well this year and who isn’t. These rankings are primarily based on how these quarterbacks performed last season and a little about how they are expected to perform this season. You will not see any of the rookies that are projected to start (Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones etc..) on the list yet. It’s still a guessing game with them and they will have to earn their way into the top 20 like Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow did.
Criteria for the rankings are as followed
- Production & Stats (Passer Rating, QBR, EPA, Yards, Touchdowns, etc..)
- Analysis of Stats (Garbage time, competition, hurdles to success, etc..)
- 3rd Party grades (PFF)
- Eye Test
- Everything Else
- QB Wins
NFL Quarterback Power Rankings
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is coming off a year in which he won the MVP award. Despite all the offseason drama with the Green Bay Packers, it is disrespectful to not have him in the top spot until proven otherwise.

Patrick Mahomes
It’s crazy that I can even have someone as amazing as Patrick Mahomes second on this list. He is one of the greatest I have ever seen play the position and he is only 25 years old. Don’t be surprised if he wins another 3 more MVP awards during his career.

Russell Wilson
If you take away Russell Wilson, the Seahawks roster might not make the playoffs. He has been good for so long now that he is starting to get underappreciated. He is the glue to that team and a top QB in the NFL.

Josh Allen
Allen had a monster breakout year last season. This year, we will see if that is the new norm or if he reverts back to his old ways a bit. With Stefon Diggs on his side, I am not going to bet on the latter.

Tom Brady
Tom Brady is entering year 23 and is still getting it done at a high level. Honestly, what more needs to be said. What he lacks in athleticism, he makes up for with brains and experience. And that isn’t new just because he is getting older.

Ryan Tannehill is starting to get the respect he deserves. Since his revival, he has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL.

Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson isn’t that far removed from an MVP season. Teams started to slow him down a little but he was still effective. His biggest issue is the offensive talent around him.

Kirk Cousins
Say what you want about Kirk Cousins but it’s hard to knock him when you look at the numbers. The biggest knock on him is his slightly above .500 career record. He will be looking to put that to rest with an improved Vikings roster this season.

Derek Carr
We have been waiting for the emergence of Derek Carr for a long time. He never officially arrived, but he has been pretty darn good and is still right there in the mix. Could this be the year?

Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray is an amazing dual-threat quarterback. This season I can see him stepping into the top 7 or dropping drastically based on where he is currently at and looking at the career trajectory of similar dual threat quarterbacks.
